Esporão – award-winning Portuguese olive oil

Herdade do Esporão is an established Portuguese olive oil producer from Alentejo. Its olive oils have also been recognised at the Portuguese National Olive Oil Competition. The following examples show international awards for individual olive oils and competition years:

  • Olival dos Arrifes: NYIOOC Gold in 2023, 2025 and 2026; BIOL Italy Extra Gold in 2023 and 2025.
  • Selecção: NYIOOC Gold in 2023 and 2024; Silver in 2022, 2025 and 2026.
  • Cobrançosa: NYIOOC Silver in 2025.

Awards belong to specific competition entries and years; they do not necessarily apply to the harvest or bottle currently for sale. Explore the Esporão awards guide.

What is extra virgin olive oil?

Olive oil obtained directly from olives by mechanical means, meeting the quality standards of the extra virgin category.

Choose by flavour and use

Balanced and fruity: great for daily dishes, vegetables and salads. Green, bitter and peppery: try with crusty bread, grilled vegetables, fish and as a finishing oil. Taste intensity is not a universal measure of quality; choose the profile you enjoy.

What makes an olive oil special?

Compare the producer, Portuguese region, olive variety, organic certification where applicable, bottle size and harvest information when available. We publish competition awards by product and year; an award for a past competition does not automatically apply to every current bottle. See our Esporão olive oil awards guide.
